Life & Music

Something fun, something wicked.

Music ruined me yet it also gave me strength. I was quite a loner back in the 80's, well pretty much all my life. I went everywhere by myself. If I had a 'mobile shell' like a hermit crab, I would've taken it with me everywhere I went. I guess I could've made one back in school! I wasn't a so-called 'recluse' since I still went out! I remember the music that was my all-time favourite back in those days was This Mortal Coil. A trip to Melrose's Rene's All Ears and the old Aron's Records was a blast. Remembering buying their first import album It'll End In Tears... It was such a pinnacle point in my life and at the time, I didn't even realize it [I guess pretty much that's how it works in life!]. How wonderful is that!

Then getting their 2nd and 3rd albums when they came out in 1986 and 1991. Immortal magic. Brings back such fond memories listening to Filigree & Shadow in my room in total darkness. Also when their import CD Blood came out, I bought it for a whoppin' $36. And THAT was waaay too much money for back then! Ouch! But worth every penny. I still listen to it today.

Yesterday I was playing my radio here and heard Bauhaus' Lagartija Nick. Thought of this old picture and revamped it cuz of the song. Have you heard? It's my favourite Bauhaus song, Terror Couple Kill Colonel being 2nd runner up. Then I clicked on Dreams Are Like Water and hands down, I had to use it today. Time and time again, TMC's still my all time favourite band/music. Well, Western music that's. (-:

O.k. I'm needing a new picture of Robert's cute face fix. I remember them too, my ex was the creator of www.radioio.com I found them on his site.

Zoinks! Did you noticed that I took out the one with me taken from my office? No more! aaahhh! :-)

Hope it isn't too late for me to wish you and your family a Happy Chinese New Year, Robert :)

Awh, same to you Mike. To a properous new Piggy Year!!

I totally remember that scene, Lola... with the monkeys screeching and the quick edits... That was such a great movie... and ultimately heartbreaking.

I wonder what happened to the little girl who played the violinist?!?

lola:

I had a blue vinyl copy of Bela Lugosi's Dead.

Anyone remember them using that in that 1983 film "The Hunger"?

I remember that blue vinyl disc Lola! hehe. But I never got it! Tho I did get the transluent red and blu discs from Tones on Tails; Go & Lion! Remember those??

Hey, thanks for stopping by! I look forward to getting a chance to check your place out.

The three of you are quite a charming bunch to say the least! ehehe!

We've spoken about our This Mortal Coil infatuation, right? Funny and coincidentally, I broke out the box set yesterday and started listening... "The Strength of Strings", as cheesy as the lyrics are, always makes me tear up. But It'll End in Tears quadra-punch of the first four songs is so powerful, so deep and so winsome that I end up in a cathartic fetal position that takes me a long time to extricate myself out of.

But Filigree and Shadow as sex music... my God... it's incredible... almost as incredible as the extended 18 minute version of New Order's "Elegia". Egads! Try it sometime. ;-)

I do think that Filigree is definitely the best of the three. Especially the C&D [double album] sides... FUCKIN' AMAZING! *Wait, I can say that cuz it's my blog. hehe!* And the 'little voices' that you can hear throughout the album. It's like goth opera, gives me the chills!

I remember Bauhaus to by the song, "Bela Lugosi's Dead". It used to freak me out a bit. I enjoyed Peter Murphy by himself as well as the reincarnation of Love and Rockets. Good times!

Now don't get me started on goth queen Siouxsie Sioux. lol.

Oh yeah, Peter Murphy, saw him a good few times. Cuts You Up and Strange Kind Of Love are my faves. Brings back memories! The ballad os SKOF is so lovely. I should dig that CD out an re-listen! I just love the 80'! *sigh*

Yeah, like I said in the email, that part where Catherine ripped off that guys shirt. yummy! ehehe. Anyway, I also like that opera track [when the 2 women were making out] from Lakme. They used that in my other fave movie "I've Heard A Mermaid Singing". Have you seen it?
