Tao Te Ching (I)

Tao.

The tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named
is not the eternal Name.

The unnamable is the eternally real.
Naming is the origin
of all particular things.

Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.

Yet mystery and manifestations
arise from the same source.
This source is called darkness.

Darkness within darkness.
The gateway to all understanding.

"Twenty-Three

The highest truth cannot be put into words. Therefore the greatest teacher has nothing to say. He simply gives himself in service, and never worries."

-- Lao Tzu, Hua Hu Ching (Brian Walker Translation)

I agree. Nothing fantastic can't really be put into words can it?

Wow, I haven't read Tao Te Ching in a very long time. I think it's getting to be the time to pick up The Tao Of Pooh at least. :)

I just got another version by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English. I'm thinking you must've read that one! :-) I also ready the 2 Pooh books when I was young... I just thot it was cute back then! haha!
