Have you seen the movie Out of Rosenheim, aka Bagdad Cafe? I only have a hand fistful of favorite movies and this is one of them. Right now I can only name four. hmm! Anyway, Alec and I took last week off and we went on a lovely driving trip to the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and Hoover Dam... also Flagstaff and *cough cough* Laughlin. Staying in Laughlin was basically out of convenience. We didn't gamble a dime.
GC and Zion were pretty awesome to say the least. No single picture can do them justice. Everything was so majestic... it takes a while to take it all in. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. I had the chance to take some nighttime photos in Zion. Alec was such a trooper... so patience and supportive! One night around 8pm we took the tram up to this particular spot and the driver mentioned that there had been mountain lions spotted some time ago near the same area. With the camera set up and the long exposure time, I only took 3 pictures before we got the hell out of there. It was pitched black but the moonlit skies! A beautiful night. Gorgeous as it may be, there were prolly some wild animals lurking out somewhere near. heh! Here's a picture of Zion at night, unretouched.
Anyway, back to Bagdad. The first day of our trip on our way out to Arizona, Alec surprised me with a visit to the cafe out in Newberry Springs, California. I must say that it was the most memorable part of the trip since I've always loved the movie! Being there was so surreal and we even ate there, too! :-) The movie is a bit quirky but with a big heart. We watched it again after we came back from our trip and I was reminded just how much I adore the movie and what it means to me. I saw it in the theatre back in 1987 and listening to the song Calling You brings back so many memories from the old days. I still get melancholy. Thanks for taking me there B!
'nuff said. So that's why I was so quiet last week. Below is the link to some photos. The squared format really confines and crops the photos too much, but this is what I have on hand at the moment.
Thanks again for reading and I hope everyone is having a fantastic week!! Be good and be glad! xoxo

The picture is gorgeous. I may have to make it my wallpaper on my laptop.
It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I do own the soundtrack. "Calling You" is so haunting.

I must say all of those photos (except one, of course) have such vivid color to them. Beautiful captures of such scenic places. I think you have set the standard for me to aspire to. The sepia-toned photo does a great job of establishing an old look and feel, particularly with the setting being in a diner. I loved your collage, too, you webmaster guru! :-)
